We were recently engaged to design and deliver an emergency exercise for the 2017 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann which will take place in Ennis, Co Clare in August.
Emergency planning and preparedness is an essential part of any large crowd event. The Fleadh lasts for eight days and attracts up to 400,000 people in that period. The exercise scenarios were based on the event risk plan and were designed to test the event plan and the state of preparedness of each agency and organisation involved in the Fleadh. Appropriate responses were discussed after each scenario inject. The importance of a coordinated response was highlighted, with Event Control playing a very central role in that coordination.
Following the exercise, the event plan will be reviewed and finalised, thus ensuring that there is a thorough and professional approach to the event and the safety of everyone who attends it.
Exercises are a well proven method of testing plans, not just for events but for any organisation or industry. Contact www.cuttleconsulting.ie for advice on exercising your plans.
