In partnership with Sean Ward, M.Sc ( Emergency Management), We facilitated a live emergency response exercise for Dublin Weston Airport this week. The exercise was conducted to test the new Emergency Response Plan which we were engaged to create for the airport.
The exercise scenario involved an aircraft crash on the runway resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The incident necessitated activation of the airport’s crash alarms with an immediate response from Dublin Weston Airport Fire & Rescue Service.
There was a full response from Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Siochana and the National Ambulance Service.
The exercise also involved the activation of the airport’s Crisis Management Team to support the immediate incident response and to manage the medium and long term actions required.
The exercise was very successful thanks to the fantastic team in Dublin Weston Airport.
Observers at the exercise included the Irish Aviation Authority, Air Accident Investigation Unit and National Flight Centre
We will now prepare a post-exercise report covering all the learning from the exercise and the views of all involved in the exercise debrief.
